Who has seen it?
Awesome stuff. Fortunately I knew a lot of the references to get a lot out of it, but even if you don't it is still a great movie.

I saw it, awesome movie. The actors fit their characters perfect. I especially liked karl urban as bones. My few gripes are just nit picky. I thought the fact that the huge ice creature falls and just doesn't seem to sure on it's feet to be silly. That creature appears to be an apex predator for that environment, how could it's body not be perfectly adapted to hunting in arctic conditions. It fucking busts out of the glacier like godzilla then falls on it's ass. You could argue that it's an ambush predator and that it was never meant to pursue prey, but then why does it chase kirk down? Also it had just killed that first large creature, why try to consume kirk? You could also argue it was a defensive parental instinct, it's young/eggs could have been nearby. But then why chase kirk that whole fucking way? That scene while exciting, just bothered me as both animals behaved very oddly. Also wtf is with the enterprise being the only ship in space. I understand there were some other ships that were destroyed in the initial encounter and the rest of the fleet was off system but come on. I mean earth as it is now has more craft in orbit than they did in the movie. And what about planetary defenses? A huge ship can just come up and last waste to us and there's nothing we can do to stop it? And how did earth sensors not detect it, people are running around like they have no idea what is going on. You can fucking teleport people and go faster than the speed of light, but you can't see stuff that's practically in your own atmosphere? Same goes for the vulcan's, wtf. How did you not know what is happening!? Other than that, sick ass movie. Can't wait for it to come out on blu-ray.

I was annoyed by the camera. I'm pretty sure the operator was some kind of epileptic, and when the fight sequences started, he just had a seizure then and there. I don't like this new trend in movies to do fight sequences where I can barely tell what's happening. They did it in the Bourne movies, they did it in Quantum of Solace, and they did it here. During non-action sequences, it seemed to shake around a bit as well. I guess I didn't notice too much later on, but in the beginning, I was almost getting dizzy from the weird shaky camera.
Also, lulz at the redshirt in the away team dying quickly and without any signifigance. Spock's performance surprised me. I didn't think I was going to stop thinking he was Sylar (the same I way I couldn't ignore that Agent Smith was King of the Elves in LOTR), but I really was able to accept him as Spock. I'm looking forward to future films. |

I agree with you about the camera in action scenes these days. I noticed it in Batman Begins (especially the prison fight scene), the camera zooms in and moves around with the actors, which is really annoying. You can't really see what all is happening.
